Overview
Few can doubt that the pace and complexity of organizational change seem to
accelerate without end.
As a result, those who understand the change
process, and have sound and relevant skills, become increasingly valuable
organizational resources. But although it is widely recognized that such skills
as consultation, facilitation, and change leadership are incredibly useful, they
are sometimes misunderstood, or misapplied.
These are all best understood as something much more than roles in
organizational live. High quality organizational change consultation,
facilitation and leadership should be something far beyond mere "advice giving."
Rather, these are all complex relationships that can strengthen the
skills and contributions of those who are their beneficiaries. In that sense,
and at their best, these organizational responsibilities are all forms of
education.
All too often however, those who wish to contribute to successful organizational
change become adjunct managers of the situations in which they attempt to
provide assistance. As a result, they are blamed if things go wrong, while their
contributions are not fully appreciated when they do result in success.
Sometimes, people who have these responsibilities take their partners’ successes
or failures "personally." But, to do so is to diminish the likelihood of their
own success as contributors to the effort of productive change.
When properly applied, the skills of organizational change can have a profound
beneficial effect on the life of any organization.
Whatever their primary professional identity,
consultants, managers, teachers, professional colleagues, even parents and
friends can successfully use the concepts, methods, and principles they will
learn in this program.
This six-day program will provide its participants the opportunity to enhance
their understanding of those relationships that can contribute to successful
change efforts in organizations of any size. Our program has skill development
as its principle goal, so, participants will practice, developing the
skills that will make their efforts of organizational change much more
successful.
Some Goals
·
Participants will learn new and very useful definitions of consulting.
·
They will learn about the underlying psychology of successful change related
partnerships, and productive behaviors that can be built upon that knowledge.
·
They will learn about the warning signs that indicate that a change effort is
headed for failure, and the ways in which they can avoid these common problems.
·
They will learn about the variety of organizational change approaches that are
widely used today. They will be able to compare, and contrast such change
approaches so that they can operate from a foundation that is the best
expression of their skills, experience, and goals.
· Program participants will have the opportunity to extend their
skills through practice in situations that are familiar to them, and also in
settings that are new. As a result, they will come to more fully understand the
methodological and psychological principles that are the basis for highly
skilled advocates in organizational change efforts.
